Currently the schools fashion design class is creating mittens out of different colorful fabrics. It’s getting really cold outside and the people need to keep warm in order to survive, especially the homeless. The mittens made will be given out in Detroit areas for people in need of them.
The organization itself is called Mittens for Detroit and has collected a quarter million pairs since 2010.
“Our goal is to make a difference in our community,” said Samantha Pioch, one of the lead mitten makers in the class.
Mrs. Yokanahs class is sending the hand-made donations, along with asked donations from stores to the underserved cities. With the design class alone theyve made about 400 pairs for the organization already.
The students at Fraser are working hard and long to ensure everyone has a warm, happy holiday this December.
