A Spicy Mess: Marteen Sriracha
October 23, 2017
Marteen is an up and coming hip hop artist who is 16 years old and debuted with his single Sriracha. Sriracha was written when Marteen was freestyling after having some sriracha sauce. He then was able to make the song with the help of producer and co-writer of Sriracha, J.R Rotem. Sriracha is about a girl who has spice, and is fun to be around. He calls her hot like Sriracha, even though it’s confusing if he means the bottle or the taste, throughout the song and is flirtatious in the song. It starts out with a slow piano but then turns to an upbeat piano tune and has a fun beat, but his rap is lacking and his voice isn’t strong. His voice brings down the beat and is lacking that strong beat. Also the piano does have a nice tune, but it can get repetitive and while listening to it, it feels like it’s dragging on and just waiting for the beat to go faster or heavier or stronger, but it doesn’t and it feels like a long wait in a line for a roller coaster ride but the line never moves. Overall, the music is repetitive and is lacking a strong beat. Also, his voice isn’t strong and not a great rapper. It’s messy and repetitive that its annoyingly catchy. The only great thing about this song is that it’s not a long song. Fortunately, it is his first song he released and hopefully in the future he will release a song that is better, stronger, and his voice develops more.
