Maddie and Tae “Start Here” Album Review
October 12, 2015
Maddie and Tae are the new country duo. The girls are rising to the top in Country music. Their album Start Here came out on August 28th, and it’s making it’s way to the top of the charts.
In the album, the song “Girl In A Country Song” tells young girls that they aren’t here to make boys happy. They don’t need to be the stereotypical girl that most men want, and the girl should not even have to care about what the guys do. It shows when they sing, “Being the girl in a country song how in the world did it go so wrong like all I’m good for is lookin’ good for you and your friends on the weekend, nothin’ more, we used to get a little respect now we’re lucky if we even get to climb up in your truck keep our mouths shut, and ride along and be the girl in a country song.” The song also tells boys that they need to learn how to treat women with respect and that women are not an object that they can just use.
A couple other songs like “Fly” helps girls learn that whenever they feel negative that they can let go and just see the bright side to almost everything; girls can be who they really are and should not care what other people think. It is represented what they sing, “So keep on climbing, though the ground might shake Just keep on reaching though the limb might break We’ve come this far, don’t you be scared now Cause you can learn to fly on the way down.”
“Sierra” tells girls who like to pick on other girls in high school and think they are better than everyone that later on in life being the high school ‘queen‘ really isn’t worth it because it has nothing to do with their feature later on in life. For example, when they sing, “Sierra, Sierra girl, let me tell ya one day, you might need those friends that you ditched. Sierra, Sierra Life ain’t all tiaras you’re gonna find out that karma’s a…..”
The album itself is really good for young girls who struggle with being happy and being who they truly are. This album is highly recommended to girls who want to have a positive influence on music. The album talks about heartbreak and how it’s okay to be who you want and that women are not just an object.
