The Ramblers were down 3-0 at half in the game that could bring the first ever Regional title for a Fraser soccer team.

With 20 minutes left in the second half Junior Austin Rassey was rushed to the ER with a neck injury.

Following that play the team’s top scorer was thrown out of the game for his second yellow. So now Fraser had lost their stud defender, All-star scorer, and were now playing short handed. Justin Piccolo scored the first goal with a penalty kick with 18 to play.

Shortly after he put in another. With 5 minutes to play Justin Piccolo completed his Hat Trick to become a hero and send the game to overtime.

Overtime was a short 20 minutes. In penalty kicks Matt Lentine, Anthony Pollock, Justin Piccolo, and Collin Haggerty all scored. A 5th shooter wasn’t necessary.

The big momentum changer for the game, according to Dylan Donnelly, was when Austin Rassey suffered his injury.

“It scared all of us of how real this loss could be. We all fought with everything in us so we could bring the game ball to him,” Donnally said.

The next game is against Rochester Adams at Lake Orion. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be a spirit bus to take student to and from the game. Pick up a permission slip in the Athletic Office.
