Within the first fifteen minutes the Fraser Boys Varsity Soccer Team were up 2-0 against Lake Shore. The first score by forward Brendan Soloman, with an assist from defender Austin Rassey; second by co-captain midfielder Matt Lentine, with an assist from co-captain midfielder Justin Piccolo.

The communication the guys on the team have is astounding: they shout up and down the field at each other, “Middle” and “Justin!” and “Lentine!”. Not all teams actually interact this way, even though they should. The difference that makes our Rambler’s team unique is that our guys have been playing with one another since they were ten in travel teams and on the FHS field. They are their own coaches; Coach Thaier Mukhtar probably hasn’t had to raise his voice more than once, if that.   By the end of the first half,Soloman scored another goal, assist Piccolo, bringing the game to 3-0.

90% of the time Fraser has the ball because of their communication and high level of play they exert every day in practice. 95% of the time the players were by Lake Shore’s goal, while our goalie, Alec Sharpe, touched the ball three times max. Boring for him, but fantastic for Fraser.

Throughout the second half they dominated the field: scoring three more goals. Soloman assist Lentine; then within three minutes Lentine scored, assist from Soloman. The clock is down to the last forty-five seconds, ball possessed by Fraser. It’s whisked down the field, Fraser players calling to one another as the ball is passed under Lake Shore’s nose, defender Dylan Donnelly receives the ball from midfielder Nick Shapre and shoots it into the goal!

The game of September 13, 2014 ended with another win for our Ramblers at a score of 6-0. Way to go guys!!
