Fraser High School Jazz Ensemble received top marks at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) State Jazz Festival on April 4, held at Utica Eisenhower High School.
The group earned First Division ratings, a distinction awarded based on performance in tone, ensemble cohesion, interpretation, rhythm, and improvisation. Judges awarded the band 13 A’s and two B+’s out of 15 possible scores. This year marks the ensemble’s 17th consecutive appearance at the state competition.
