Congratulations to the Fraser High School band students that participated in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association State Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, March 15, at Warren Cousino High School.
Soloists in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade compete at a sequenced proficiency level, which includes performing a solo piece, memorized scales, and sight-reading music they have never seen before. For the proficiency ratings, a First Division is a score of 85 – 100, and a Second Division is a score of 70 – 84.
ALL 14 events that qualified for State received “Superior” First Division ratings, equivalent to the overall grade of an “A”!!!
Six of the events were chamber ensembles, each with 9 – 15 students, for a total of 76 ensemble members.
