On February 3rd, the FHS and RMS be nice clubs won $10,000 as a donation from the Detroit Red Wings and Planet Fitness.
The message that the be nice club follows is that positive relationships with peers and staff can stop bullying. The club works to build trust in students and help students who are struggling to be heard about their issues. Students should be able to tell adults about their mental health concerns, and the be nice club helps to work on this.
“We applied for a grant related to anti-bullying and provided information on the events and programs we have done and are doing with our club” one of the advisors of the club, Mrs. Impellizzeri said.
The clubs at FHS and RMS plan to use the funds to hold student conferences, a community wellness night, and mental health week events.
The money was presented during the Red Wings Game on February 10th.
“It is great to know we have made some sort of progress with a club we just started a year ago. Especially knowing big names like Planet Fitness and the Red Wings support our efforts,” member of the Be Nice club, Alex said.
