Fraser High School band triumphs once again, this time at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District 16 Solo and Ensemble Festival.
On Saturday, February 3, 18 FHS band events placed during the competition at Rochester High School.
The following students received First Division ratings:
Cydnee Cox (Flute solo), Paige Teer (Flute solo and Bass Flute solo), Noah Pashby (Tenor Saxophone solo), Jacob Paradowski (Trumpet solo), Declan Johnston (French Horn solo and Piano solo), Nicolas Durnell (Tenor Drum solo), and Jude Johnston (Snare drum solo).
These students gave a “Superior” performance, which is comparable to the overall grade of an “A”. They are qualified to move on to the State Solo and Ensemble Festival on March 16, 2024.
The following students received Second Division ratings:
Aliyah Carswell (Clarinet solo), Tamia Dixon (French Horn solo), Olivia Deir (Tenor Saxophone solo), Arsian Qyli (Alto Saxophone solo), Emily Clark and Kasey Martin (Trombone and Bass Clarinet duet), Aidian Prout and Drake Langworthy (Trumpet duet), Emily Seiler and Frances Seiler (Baritone Saxophone and Tuba duet), and Jordan Lees, Sally Foley, and Ysabella Graham (Alto Saxophone trio).
These students gave an “Excellent” performance, which is comparable to the overall grade of an “B”.
Additionally, Giselle Zschernig, Cali Scherer, and Liliana Szafranski received a Third Division rating for their Flute trio.
Fraser band also competed at the District Chamber Ensemble competition 2 weeks prior to the MSBOA District Solo and Ensemble Festival. They earned First Division ratings for the flute, clarinet, Saxophone, Brass A, Brass B, and Percussion ensembles.
