A super helpful program that Fraser High School offers is Gleaners, a food pantry that visits the school to distribute groceries for families of the Fraser community that are in need.
Gleaners occurs at the high school every other Thursday from 9am to 11am in the Klein parking lot near the pool and tennis courts. The following dates are for the rest of the year: January 11th, January 25th, February 8th, February 22nd, March 7th, March 21st, and April 4th.
This company allows up to 30 pounds of groceries per family. These groceries include milk, canned fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and other shelf-stable items.
Gleaners also provides two ways of pickup. You can pull your car up to the school and they will place the groceries in your trunk for you, or you can walk up to a self-service table and collect what you need. There is no need to bring any proof of eligibility or identification to receive these items.
Another advantage is being able to pick up groceries for other friends and families without their presence in the car.
If there are any questions or concerns about Gleaners, you can reach Vicky Zoldos at 313-530-8736 or [email protected]
